Hello from the board of Shine the Light.

We’re now at the end of winter and the beginnings of spring are upon us. Conversations are beginning to be sprinkled with the anticipated joys of spring and summer. From the blossoms of spring flowers to farmer’s spring planting, from building projects to update our homes to vacations and travel to build up our families and relationships, we set our sights on the changing of the seasons.

God didn’t design life and love to be stagnant and stale but rather His design is one of unending change as tomorrow is always different than yesterday. Oh what a blessing to be able to have an unending source of hope and joy-filled anticipation of the future!

Your local and now regional Christian radio station QFM is poised to move forward to the hope filled tomorrow. Our mission and passion at STL and QFM is to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our overwhelming desire to encourage you, our brothers and sisters in Christ, to unashamedly live, stand, and speak out the truths our God gave us in love. Our primary tool to accomplish this is prayer but another important tool we use is broadcasting over the airwaves to proclaim the truth in a way that connects with the people in our region.

We prayerfully sought God’s guidance when we expanded the translator network. All translators are up and running proclaiming Christ, strengthening families, encouraging listeners, speaking truth, and hopefully connecting with and entertaining new listeners.

Our next goal is to help each new translator community become fully invested in the spiritual and emotional ownership of their unique part of this ministry. Our purpose is to become a radio ministry home each community can call their own. We would like to help raise up a core group in each community that STL could interact with and that they would help define the local ministry needs and help to sponsor the monthly operating costs of the translator. The communities that have been blessed for many years are now reaching out to welcome and encourage the new translator communities. It is our hope that as a region we will become one family of communities loving, listening, learning, sharing, and growing in unity to affect ministries across church and city boundaries.

On Wednesday April 29^th we will be holding our Spring Sharathon. The goal is $40,000 to complete the ministry budget for QFM for 2009. This is a modest and attainable goal considering the size of our listeners’ passion for God! We are also using this as an opportunity to welcome all of our new listeners to the family. Keep tuned to QFM over the next month as announcements will be made for some special opportunities during the Spring Sharathon to bless our new translator communities! What an exciting time to build relationships across our region! Until then, please tune in or go online and participate in the “Don’t be an Idle American” contest. You will be greatly encouraged by the activities, ministry, and love displayed by so many people in our region.
